Just step outside and you’ll find something to do.
Start with the water. Being surrounded by Puget Sound, we have practically every water activity you can name. Beachcombing, of course. But also sailing, motor boating, waterskiing, kayaking, canoeing, sailboarding, diving and fishing. The Sound is a little cold for a long swim without a wet suit. But you can swim endless laps at our Aquatic Center and never get chilled.
Biking is very big on Bainbridge. In good weather, you’ll see dozens of bicyclists touring the island. And in February, no matter what the weather is, we have the Chilly Hilly, the bike tour that attracts serious cyclists from throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Chilly Hilly is rated as one of four classic rides in the nation.
Our parks have miles of trails for hiking. Many of the parks are also great for birdwatching. Then there’s tennis. And what would island life be without golf? Wing Point Golf & Country Club is a private course. Meadowmeer Golf & Country Club is a semi-private course open to the public in the afternoon. In addition, Bainbridge is a gateway to world-class golf, with four award-winning public courses within an hour’s drive. You’ll find Gold Mountain in Bremerton, McCormick Woods and Trophy Lake in Port Orchard, and Port Ludlow on the way to Port Townsend.
